Serving Schools and Communities
Creating Mindful Communities offers well-being tools to students, parents, educators, and any one who is in need of a more balanced life. Studies find that learning mindfulness benefits participants in terms of improved attention, emotion regulation, empathy, social skills, anxiety, and stress. Our 9-week, 18-week, or year-long program based on the Mindful Schools curriculum train participants' ability to cultivate well-being and awareness of the things that need to change. Participants gain strategies to act mindfully while training to let go of impulsive reactions. Combining mindfulness practices with movements, we pay attention to the body, the mind, and the emotions. Once aware of our own feelings and the way it impacts us, we are ready to interact with empathy and compassion within the framework of Non-Violent Communication. The goals are to provide youth and adults with concrete tools for:
Some examples of how we will use mindfulness are: - noticing and naming our feelings during specific activities, - using mindfulness of breath to calm anxiety and improve focus, - learning to pause when feeling frustrated or impatient. Workshops and coaching sessions are available on line and in person. There is strength in practicing together, come, join us as we share experiences, celebrate successes, and navigate challenges. |
